Week 4

A short week thanks to the Easter Break

Wednesday Session 4-4-2018 (6 Hours)

Today session was all about ADR we had the Assailant actor Sean in the studio. He was an absolute pleasure to work with as it was all hands on deck today we split up and worked towards our goals. Shay, Adam and Jaxon ra the ADR session while I was in the corner working on the synth lines and atmospheres for the film.

We got all of Sean's lines completed quite well however, Ash was still a little under the weather so we decided to reschedule him for next week when his voice was a cleared up.

For my part I was trying to bridge the gap between the different backing tracks by filling them with some simple synth lines. I was trying to maintain the storytelling with the music and uses some suspended 4th's and 2nd's as well as a really poignant 7th to convey the feeling of the pictures. This was a fun compositional exercise for me transitioning between keys and telling a story.

I used Omnipshere for this synth line and recorded it to audio to add to the main DAW session. I stared with the Ambient Space Piano preset and made a few adjustments to oeach of the main oscillators and then tweaked the FX channels and added some reverb to create the desired tones.

Reflection

This was a great week all be it a little short. I really enjoyed creating background music and the challenges of conveying story through music. This is probably the most fun I've had so far working on this film as it combined my love of synthesisers and creating emotion through music. It may be simple but I believe it adds emphasis to the story telling and ties the film together nicely.
