Review: DJ MAG CORRUPTION EXPOSED: A CVNT5 Documentary
The boys from CVNT5 are back at it again with their latest video DJ MAG CORRUPTION EXPOSED: A CVNT5 Documentary. CVNT5 are a satirical DJ team comprised of Brandon Bass (Gareth Emery) and Chad Chisel (Ashley Wallbridge). The documentary set the scene by starting out in the office of CVNT5's manager John Bond (Alex Madden) and follows them on their quest to become DJ Mag's Top 100 DJ's Number 1 DJ.

This "documentary" is a hilarious tongue in cheek look at online polls and the inevitable corruption that ensues. Utilising the same comedy techniques from their first video CVNT5 - CVNT5 (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO!!!!!) (Below).

The use of over the top costumes and stereotypical settings combined with the drug references and irony used really conveys the message they are trying to portray. They poke fun at the modern "EDM" scene in the United States, the pitfalls of fame and the narcissistic tendencies that instant fame brings.
This "documentary" is just what the world of dance music needs. With any luck it will shine a light onto the shady side of an industry that seems to be devoid of morals. This piece may just be what is needed to help younger audiences understand that their is a better side to the electronic music world and maybe bring balance back to the very poll they are poking fun at.
The deeper themes of the morality of click farms and integrity of online polls is handled in a fantastic way. There is also an undercurrent of contempt throughout the film showing the lengths that some artists and I use that word loosely go to to achieve and maintain their fame. The DJ's that star in this film which also include Mark Etesen, Roxane Emery along with Armada's The Bearded Man label boss Marwen Tlili team up wonderfully in the creative look at an industry that seems to have lost its way.
