Whats on this week

In the studio

This week my focus is on getting back into the studio. Teaming up with local DJ Amor, we are working on a very exciting Techno tune. Wednesday we will be sitting down and working out a production plan for this tune and have studio time booked for Friday afternoon for drum and bass line work and Saturday morning for recording vocals and building a solid foundation for the track. Personally I cant wait to get cracking on this tune as we are trying to focus on using outboard gear including the Moog Sub37 and Arturia Drumbrute. Needless to say I'm pretty excited to see what these things can do.

Projects

Today I also took part in a project brainstorming session with Simon (Audio) and Chris (Film) on ideas for a possible future project producing sound for a short film. This is still in the early stages of planning but looks like a possible opportunity. This project has potential to be something and we have schedule another session for next week. We seem to work well as a group just need to work a little better on creating a solid idea to focus our efforts.

Blog

This week I'm also planning on running a series of posts on understanding song analysis. This will include a guide to song analysis and three case studies employing the techniques discussed in my guide. The guide and first case study should be up this week with more to come in the following weeks.

Gigs

This week sees the master of all things Trance returning to Brisbane for his annual OTC (Open to close) Journey set. This will be held at Capulet this coming Sunday. This is one of the best tracne parties in Brisbane each and every year. Check out the event page below.
